Appreciation post: The trim carpenter who saved my sanity on a kitchen reno

Last month I was ripping out old cabinets in a 1970s house on Monte Vista and hit a nightmare when the drywall behind the sink was full of mold. I called a guy named Frank he does trim work on the side and he talked me through how to frame around it without tearing out the whole wall. He showed me a trick with a oscillating tool to cut clean edges and then used some metal studs to box it in for like $40 in materials. I was expecting a $500 bill from a contractor but Frank just charged me $80 for his time and I learned something practical. Has anyone else found a local specialist who saved them from a bigger mess?

My buddy's dad who does tile work showed me something similar when my shower pan leaked. It's funny how the real pros who do this stuff on the side are usually way more helpful than the big companies who just want to sell you the whole package.
