Got the last coat of mud on my office closet shelf yesterday after 3 years of putting it off

I painted over it this morning and it actually looks like a real wall now instead of that bare drywall I'd been staring at since 2021. Anyone else have a tiny project that just sat forever until you finally forced yourself to finish it?

Man, the staring at it for five minutes thing is so real. I read somewhere that finishing a small task like that gives your brain a little hit of dopamine, which is probably why we procrastinate on them so much, we don't think the payoff is worth the effort. But then you do it and it's like, oh, that was actually just an hour of work. I had a broken drawer pull on my nightstand for two years before I finally replaced it with a ten-cent screw. It's embarrassing how good it still feels.

Did you have that moment where you step back and just stare at it for five minutes...

Oh man, I've done that so many times. It's a special kind of proud feeling.
