We're looking to rip out the old carpets in our main living area and go with stained or polished concrete. I've narrowed it down to two local places: High Desert Concrete Design and Albuquerque Concrete Coring Company. Has anyone used either of these recently? I'm trying to figure out which one is better for residential work. Any insight on pricing or overall quality would be huge.

Seconding High Desert! We used them for our entire ground floor. One thing I didn't even think about until they brought it up was the improved indoor air quality. Since getting rid of the carpet and going with their polished concrete, my kids' allergies have been basically non-existent. The durability and longevity of the finish is also insane—we have two big dogs and there isn't a single scratch on the floor.

I actually got quotes from both when we ripped up the old tile in our kitchen and living room last fall. Albuquerque Concrete Coring Company is solid, but they seem to focus way more on heavy commercial stuff and demolition work. We ended up going with High Desert Concrete Design because their aesthetic options for staining were way better for a house. Plus, they really emphasized how low maintenance and cost-effective their finish is. Our floors look amazing and we literally just sweep and damp mop them.
