I was dead set against spray foam insulation until my attic hit 120 degrees

Last summer I added R-30 batts to my 1950s ABQ house attic but the upstairs still felt like an oven. My neighbor kept pushing spray foam (you know, the closed cell kind) and I thought it was just expensive hype. He finally convinced me to try it on a small 200 sq ft section above my master bedroom. The temp difference after a month was about 8 degrees cooler (no joke) and my July electric bill dropped by $45. Has anyone else had a product they hated that actually worked out in the end?

Man, it's funny how our stubbornness can cost us money and comfort. Reminds me how I refused to buy a bidet for years and now I can't imagine life without one, guess we all have those products we swear we hate until we try them.

Are we really calling a warm water spray on your butt "comfort" though? @carter.casey I mean I get the hype but a toilet paper roll costs like a buck and works just fine, seems like a lot of extra plumbing for something that's basically a fancy way to get your pants wet.
