My 20 year old tile floor in the Nob Hill bathroom popped loose and I spent Saturday digging out old thinset
Pulled up the loose tiles in my hall bath last Saturday and found out the old thinset was basically dust over the plywood. Spent 5 hours with a chisel and hammer getting it back to bare wood, arm is still sore. Turns out the subfloor had a small soft spot from an old leak near the toilet flange that I never noticed. I screwed down a patch of 3/4 inch plywood and let it dry overnight before setting new tile. Has anyone dealt with a soft spot like that, did you just patch it or rip out the whole floor?
