Showerthought: the guy at the tile yard on Central told me to skip the backer board, so I did
I was buying 14 boxes of subway tile at the yard off Central last month and the old timer loading my truck told me to skip cement board on my bathroom wall since it was already solid plaster. I trusted him, and 6 months later not one tile has popped or cracked, which goes against everything I read online. Was he right that half of what we call "required" on old ABQ homes is just overkill, or did I get lucky?
