That tile store on San Mateo changed how I pick grout
I used to just grab whatever bone color grout was on sale at Home Depot... never thought twice about it. But last week I stopped into Floorcraft on San Mateo and the guy there spent like 20 minutes showing me how different grout colors look once they cure. He pulled out a sample board with 12 different shades and it was wild how much the final look changed. Has anyone else noticed a big difference after switching grout brands or colors?

Oh man, that story about the sample board with 12 shades really hit home. I had a similar thing happen when I redid my bathroom last year. I always thought "greige" was greige, but once I actually put two different ones side by side on a test board, one pulled way more green and the other was almost pink. It's crazy how much the undertones change everything once it dries and cures. That guy sounds like he really knew his stuff, that kind of help is gold.

Those little sample patches never show the true undertones though.

Oh, did the paint guy actually warn you about that green vs pink thing or did you learn it the hard way?
