The 8-year change in my kitchen that took me by surprise last week
I finally got around to painting over the old harvest gold cabinets my house came with, and the difference was like night and day. After 8 years of meaning to do it, I spent $60 on paint and primer and it took me 3 days. Has anyone else waited way too long to tackle a simple cosmetic fix?

Took you 8 years to paint some cabinets? That's what I call being committed to your mistake. I've got a bathroom vanity that's been the same ugly shade of beige since 2012 and I talk about painting it every single spring like it's a holiday tradition. Last year I finally bought the primer and it's still sitting in my garage gathering dust next to a half empty can of something my wife bought for a project she abandoned. The worst part is how good your kitchen probably looks now and how much time you wasted staring at those ugly cabinets while telling yourself you'd get to it. Maybe I'll go home tonight and finally crack open that primer or maybe I'll just keep being the procrastination champion.

Honestly, you're making that primer sound like a permanent garage resident now.

Primer is like that friend who crashes on your couch and just never leaves, you know? @lily70 hit the nail on the head with that bathroom vanity thing. I swear half the stuff in my garage is just evidence of past ambitions that fizzled out. It's like once you buy the supplies, your brain tells you the work is already done and you can relax. And then you walk past that beige vanity for another year telling yourself "this is the spring.
