TIL my kitchen tile floor took 3 full weekends instead of 1 because I didn't check if the subfloor was level first
I picked out these nice 12x24 tiles from Floor and Decor and thought I'd knock it out in a weekend. Turns out my subfloor had a 1/4 inch dip right in the middle, and leveling compound takes forever to cure between layers. Has anyone else had a simple floor job turn into a multi-week thing?

Oh man, that's rough. I feel your pain on the leveling compound wait times. What finally worked for me was switching to a fast drying self-leveler, the kind that's good to walk on in like 4 hours. I know it's more expensive but it saved me from losing another weekend just sitting around waiting. Also, I found out the hard way that you have to prime the subfloor first or the stuff doesn't bond right and you get little cracks. After that it went way smoother, still took longer than I planned but not three weekends long. Hope you get to enjoy that new floor soon, it's worth it once it's done.
