Vent: Found out the average kitchen redo in Albuquerque runs 27 grand and I almost fell off my ladder
I was killing time on my phone between coats of paint at a place over in Nob Hill when I found a cost breakdown from a local contractor group showing the typical kitchen job here runs about 27 grand. I had been quoting folks closer to 18 for similar scope, cabinets, counters, a little electrical, and now I feel like an idiot. What really got me was that countertops alone are averaging almost 6 grand in this market, which is way up from what I was charging two years back. So I called a buddy who has been doing this in the Heights for a decade and he said yeah, materials jumped roughly 30 percent since 2021 and I just never adjusted my numbers. I have three bids out right now that are probably leaving money on the table. How are you all handling pricing these days, are you going off square footage or just gut feel like me?
