Checked my router logs at 3am and hit 500 blocked connection attempts in one day
Was up late troubleshooting a slow connection and stumbled on the security log showing 527 blocked intrusion attempts just from yesterday. Has anyone else looked at their router stats and felt a little paranoid about what's pinging your network?

Wait, you saw 500 attempts in just one day? That's wild. I looked at mine for the first time last month and almost dropped my coffee when I saw 300 tries in a week. It's creepy how many random bots and scanners just poke at your router all the time like they're testing doorknobs. Honestly, it made me change my admin password to something ridiculous and turn off remote access for good measure. But I still feel like I'm being watched even though I know it's mostly automated junk. You're not alone in feeling paranoid about it.

Bettyroberts, you hit on something I never thought about. Those attempts might look scary, but a good chunk of them are probably just search engines indexing public IPs, not actual hackers. Maybe it's less like someone testing your door and more like a census taker checking the house number.

Yeah, 500 attempts sounds like a lot but honestly... most of that is just background noise from port scanners and bots that crawl the internet 24/7. Those numbers don't mean someone's targeting you specifically. I checked mine once and saw similar counts but nothing ever actually got through because my firewall was doing its job. Changing passwords is smart, but I wouldn't lose sleep over it.
