DAE get stuck for 2 hours trying to open a jar of pickles at 1am?
So around 1am I got hungry and pulled a jar of dill pickles out of the fridge, and the lid just would not budge. I tried running it under hot water for like a minute, then I tried the rubber band trick, then I smacked the lid on the counter a few times like my mom does. Nothing worked. I sat there on the kitchen floor at 2:30 in the morning googling "how to open stuck jar" and reading forum posts from 2009 about tapping the lid with a spoon. I finally got it open by wedging a butter knife under the edge and prying just a tiny bit, which made a loud pop and scared my cat. The whole thing took me about 2 hours for a jar of pickles I only ate 3 of before going to bed. Has anyone else had a dumb late night struggle like this or am I just losing it?
I had the same thing happen with a jar of salsa and the only thing that worked was putting on those yellow dish gloves and twisting. The grippy texture on the gloves did way better than a rubber band since it covers your whole hand. Also the knife pop trick is real, that little bit of air getting in breaks the seal like nothing else.
