Found a beat up tape of The Midnight Hour at 2AM on Ebay and it changed my whole playlist approach

I used to just throw on whatever shuffled through my streaming playlist while I was trying to get work done after midnight. But last Tuesday around 2AM I was scrolling Ebay for old VHS tapes and stumbled on a used copy of this 1985 compilation called 'The Midnight Hour' for like eight bucks. I bought it on a whim and when it showed up Friday I popped it in. Now instead of random songs, I actually build my late night finds around weird old compilations like this one, because the tracks are curated for a specific vibe. Something about the crackly audio and obscure picks makes it feel like a secret club. Has anyone else swapped their streaming habits for physical media finds after hours?

Does that old tape have that specific faded label handwriting too? For me that's the best part, seeing someone's actual sharpie slants and knowing they made that mix on a Tuesday night or something. It gives the whole listening session this weird time capsule weight you just don't get from a curated Spotify playlist.
