Found a trick for fixing sticky keys on an old keyboard at 1 AM

I was up way too late last night trying to finish a project and my spacebar kept sticking. Popped the keycap off and saw a ton of dust and gunk underneath. Used a wet Q-tip with a tiny drop of rubbing alcohol and ran it along the plastic guide rails. After three passes it clicks perfectly now. Has anyone else had luck cleaning old keyboard switches that cheap and easy?

yo dude, did you try isopropyl alcohol or just regular rubbing alcohol? i had the same issue with my old mechanical board last month, the keys were all crunchy and gross. i ended up taking a whole weekend to pull every single keycap off and soak them in soapy water while i used a toothbrush and alcohol on the switch housing. honestly it worked way better than i expected, everything feels brand new now.

Wait, you soaked them for a whole weekend? Dude, that's some serious dedication. I almost fell asleep just reading that part. I don't think I'd have the patience to leave my keyboard looking like a dead spider for two whole days. But hey, if it works, it works - I just use a q-tip and some 91% isopropyl and call it good in half an hour.
