Hot take: a coworker in Denver called my evening walks "just more work" and she was right about one thing
I used to come home and walk 3 miles around the neighborhood to unwind, but after a rough audit season it started feeling like a second job. My coworker Priya watched me log it on my phone one night and said, "You're tracking that like a project, no wonder you're still tense." So about 6 weeks ago I dropped the mileage goal and just walk until I see 5 dogs, then I head home. It sounds silly, but the walk is shorter now and I actually sleep through the night. Has anyone else had a relaxing habit go bad once you turned it into numbers?
Man, I've gotta disagree, counting something doesn't have to kill the fun. For me a little tracking actually helps me switch off, it's the chasing a big goal that made it feel like work.
