My 3pm pour over disaster in the office kitchen turned me around on cold brew

I used to think cold brew was just for people who couldn't handle hot coffee after lunch. Then last Tuesday I was at my desk in the break room on the third floor, pouring my usual 3pm V60 with this fancy Ethiopian light roast, and the kettle tipped over and sent boiling water straight onto my hand and the counter. I yelled, papers scattered, and my coworker Dan ran over with paper towels while I just stood there with a throbbing red wrist and about 2 ounces of lukewarm coffee left in the carafe. That's when I grabbed the iced pitcher of cold brew our office keeps for afternoons, added a splash of oat milk, and drank it while my hand sat in cold water. It hit me that the whole point of my ritual was the ritual itself, not the steam, and cold brew actually holds up way better when you're distracted or nursing a burn. I've since made a 16oz batch every Sunday with my same beans ground coarse, and it's saved my 4pm crash about five times now. Has anyone else made the switch after a kitchen accident, or am I the only clumsy convert? Maybe I should just buy a gooseneck with a wider base, but that's $60 I don't want to spend yet.
