My sister said my 4pm cup was just "a habit with extra steps" and I haven't stopped thinking about it
My sister stayed with us for a week in July and caught me making my usual 4pm pot on the first afternoon. She watched me grind the beans, heat the water to a boil, and pour it over, then said it was just "a habit with extra steps" because I don't even need the caffeine that late. I laughed it off at the time, but then I started counting and realized I've made that same cup at the same time for almost 3 years straight. Here's the thing though, it's not about staying awake, it's the 20 minutes of quiet before my wife gets home and the kids start dinner chaos. Now I'm wondering if she had a point or if she just doesn't get why the ritual matters more than the drink. Does anyone else here drink their afternoon cup for the pause more than the buzz?
