PSA: I quit coffee after 2pm for two weeks and my sleep got worse, not better
I kept hearing that afternoon coffee ruins your sleep, so I cut it out cold for 14 days starting April 3rd. Problem is I just replaced it with a 3pm soda, and I still woke up at 2am staring at the ceiling. Turns out the ritual of a warm mug at my desk was what helped me unwind, not the caffeine. Has anyone else found that quitting the ritual hurt more than the coffee did?
Ha, that makes total sense, the warm mug is basically a signal to your brain that the day is winding down. Maybe try swapping the soda for decaf or even just hot water in the same mug so you keep the ritual without the caffeine.
