That 2pm espresso blend I laughed at is now my daily driver
A coworker in Austin swore by this local roaster's afternoon blend, but I figured it was just hype plus a pretty bag. Then I tried a cup at 3pm last Tuesday and the difference was real, less bitterness, cleaner finish than my usual stuff. It costs $18 for 12 ounces, which stings, but I've slept fine every night since. Has anyone else found a specific roast that works better later in the day, or am I just getting old?

Same thing happened to me last fall with a dark roast from a shop in Portland. I swear I spent a week side-eyeing my old afternoon cup because it just tasted flat and burnt after I tried theirs. Now I keep two bags in the house, the cheap stuff for mornings and the good one for after lunch. The 18 bucks does hurt but honestly I've saved money on Advil because my stomach doesn't hate me at 5pm anymore. You're not getting old, you're just finally figuring out what your body actually wants.
