My air fryer gave me a deep thought about toast

I overheard my neighbor say her air fryer makes the best toast ever, and I had to try it. So I tossed in two slices of sourdough at 350 for 4 minutes, and they came out perfectly crunchy. It made me wonder, why do we even bother with toasters anymore when air fryers do it better? Has anyone else ditched their toaster for good?

I got a Ninja air fryer last Christmas and tried making toast at 350 for 4 minutes too, but my bread came out a little burnt on the edges. I dropped the time to 3 minutes and now it comes out perfect every time, with that nice crunchy outside and soft middle. The air fryer definitely beats my old toaster for getting that even golden color.

Wait, hold up. 3 minutes at 350? That seems crazy short to me. My air fryer is a different brand, some off-brand one my wife got off Amazon, and I gotta run toast for like 5 or 6 minutes to get any color on it at all. I wonder if the Ninja ones just run way hotter than mine, or maybe my cheap thing is just weak. Makes me question if I should even try the timer trick you guys are talking about if my machine is that different.

So @kellyjones, you really think there's that much variation between air fryer brands? I've heard the Ninja runs hot but 3 minutes vs 6 is a huge difference. My buddy has a Cosori and his toast takes like 4.5 minutes at 350, so yours sounds like it's running real cool. What kind of bread are you using? Thicker slices might need more time too, I've noticed cheap white bread burns way faster than sourdough or artisan loaves.
