My buddy swore by a 400-degree, 8-minute cook for frozen fries, but they came out like burnt toothpicks.

He was so confident, but after wasting a whole bag, I'm wondering if anyone else has a better temp/time combo for the crispy-but-not-charred result?

Honestly, this is why I never trust cooking times from friends without asking about their oven first! It's like getting driving directions from someone who only knows the shortcut through their own neighborhood.

What kind of oven does your buddy have? That sounds like a convection setting time, not a regular bake. My regular oven needs way longer at a lower temp, like 425 for maybe 20 minutes, but you gotta shake the tray halfway.
