My sister swore by 400 degrees for frozen fries, but I tried 380 and they're perfect

She insisted that 400 for 15 minutes was the only way to get crispy crinkle cuts from the bag. I gave it a shot last night and the outside was way too dark while the inside was still cold. So today I dropped it to 380 for 18 minutes, flipping halfway, and they came out golden and crispy all the way through. Anyone else find that the recommended temps on the bag are sometimes too high?

My oven NEEDS that 400 degrees to work right.

It's like everything these days needs a little extra push just to do its basic job.

My friend's new dishwasher is like that. It runs for over two hours but still leaves bits of food on the plates. She has to rinse everything like it's a museum piece before she even loads it. The whole point was to save time, not make more work.

Right? My old oven was the same way. It would take forever to preheat and then not cook evenly unless I cranked it to 400. I had to add like 25 extra minutes to any recipe.
