My sister swore I didn't need to preheat my air fryer, and she was dead wrong

My sister Lisa has been using an air fryer for like 3 years, so when I got mine last month I asked her for tips. She told me not to bother preheating because it "saves time and cooks the same." So I tried making frozen chicken wings at 400 degrees for 18 minutes without preheating, and they came out soggy on one side and almost burnt on the other. I tried it again with a 3 minute preheat and they were perfectly crispy all over. Has anyone else found that preheating makes a huge difference for frozen stuff?

Honestly that sounds about right, people always skip little prep steps and act surprised when things don't turn out well. It's just like not letting a pan heat up before searing meat, same concept applies here.
