Oil spray vs. brush-on: which side are you on for crispy wings?

I made wings two nights in a row to test this. First batch I sprayed avocado oil with a pump mister, got uneven crispy spots. Second batch I brushed the oil on with a silicone brush, took longer but the coating was way more even. Which method actually gives better crunch at 390°F for 20 minutes? I'm leaning brush now but curious what others found.

I mean that thing about uneven crispy spots you mentioned - that's actually what got me thinking. I think the mister vs brush thing is missing the real trick. You ever try tossing your wings in a bowl with oil and a little cornstarch before baking? It coats every nook and cranny way better than either method. I did it last week and the crunch was way more even than when I brushed. Plus it saves time since you're not standing there brushing each wing. Idk maybe it's just me but I feel like the mister always clogs or spits out uneven droplets. Cornstarch method changed my wing game honestly.

Uneven crispy spots" is exactly what I'm talking about lol. I gotta disagree on the cornstarch thing though @the_max, it always leaves that weird powdery feel on mine no matter how much I toss it. I'd rather just take the time to brush each wing and get that straight oil crunch.

Oh I feel you on the mister issue, mine clogs halfway through every time and then I'm just shaking it like a fool. I ended up switching to a silicone brush with really dense bristles, it holds the oil better and gives a much more even coat than the cheap ones. But I totally get why you'd want to avoid the brushing altogether, sometimes you just want to toss and go.
