Read the air fryer manual after 8 months of guessing

Blew the dust off the instruction booklet for my Cosori last night. Found out I'd been stacking food too high for proper circulation the whole time. Anyone else skip the manual and later find a game changing setting?

Eight months is a long time to be doing it wrong but also, did it really matter that much? I've had my air fryer for over a year and never touched the manual once. Food comes out crispy and hot every time, so stacking high or low, what's the actual difference? Unless you're burning stuff or it's coming out raw in the middle, I doubt one paragraph about air flow changes your life. People get way too hung up on perfect technique for a glorified mini convection oven. Just toss some frozen fries in there and call it a day, you'll survive either way.

Gets even better when you don't wash it for a month (oops).

I used to be in the "just toss it in and go" camp for over a year too. But I finally caved and read the manual last month after burning the top of some chicken thighs while the bottom was still raw. Turns out I was stacking stuff way too high and blocking the fan. Now I leave an inch of space up top and everything cooks way more even. Still not washing it for a month though, that's just seasoning at this point.
