The day my mom and I argued over preheating the air fryer for 5 minutes vs 3 minutes

Last Sunday, my mom came over to make her famous chicken wings in my air fryer. She insisted on preheating for exactly 5 minutes because that's what her friend Martha does, but I've always done 3 minutes and they come out perfect. I finally pulled out the manual and showed her the recommended preheat time is 3 minutes for most recipes. She still thinks I'm wrong though. Anybody else have a family member who won't budge on their air fryer routine?

Oh wow, you're both missing that preheating drains the battery on smart air fryers!

Wait, preheating actually drains the battery on those things? I always figured it was just pulling from the wall outlet, not the internal battery at all. @val_williams, that's a crazy detail I never would have caught. Guess my old non-smart air fryer is simpler for a reason.
