Tried those silicone air fryer liners and now I'm out 20 bucks and a batch of fries

The holes blocked all the airflow so my fries came out soggy and I had to scrub the basket anyway, so who actually finds these things useful or am I just buying the wrong brand?

Well, 89 dollars and four hours of my life later, I still can't get the smoke smell out of my kitchen. I bought a cheap air fryer from a discount store and used a silicone liner from a dollar bin. The liner melted right onto the heating element. Now the thing smells like burnt plastic every time I turn it on. So I guess the lesson is, you're probably better off without them.

Melting plastic onto the heating element sounds like something that should come with a warning label.

Toss the liners, just spray the basket with oil and call it a day.
