Chasing a gremlin in the avionics bay for three days straight.
I spent 72 hours troubleshooting a intermittent comm 1 fault on a King Air, only to find a chafed wire behind a panel I swore I checked twice. Has anyone else burned a whole weekend on something that simple?

Figured out the hard way that "I swear I checked that twice" really means "I glanced at it in bad light while holding a coffee." That chafed wire was probably laughing at you the whole time like a little gremlin hiding in plain sight. But hey, at least you didn't have to pull the whole panel out and find it was just a loose ground screw from the factory. Rite of passage? More like a rite of frustration that makes you question your life choices.

Maybe it's just me but that's basically an aviation rite of passage.

Question if it's really that big of a deal though. I've been flying for years and never had any big scary moment that stuck with me. Plenty of people treat flying like it's this huge dangerous thing when really it's just getting from A to B. Yeah, you might hit some bumps or have a delay but that's not a rite of passage, that's just normal travel stuff. Seems like folks just like to make a big story out of nothing special.
