Choosing paper logs over the tablet after 20 years of turning wrenches
Started at a regional outfit back in 04, we used carbon paper and a clipboard. Last year the boss made us all switch to tablets for tracking work. I fought it hard for about two months, kept my paper pad in my back pocket. Then one day I had to sign off a rudder cable replacement on a CRJ-200 and the screen froze mid-entry. Lost the whole write up. That was it. I gave the tablet a real shot after that, and now I won't lie, it's faster for looking up part numbers. But I still keep a folded sheet of paper in my coveralls for quick notes. Any other old timers out there still doing both?

Heck, losing one write-up is annoying but it ain't like you lost the plane itself... I've had tablets crap out on me mid-job and it's just part of the deal now. Paper's got its charm for quick scribbles, but I don't get the whole loyalty thing to a clipboard. Long as the work gets signed off, who cares what you're holding when you do it?
