Had a passenger yell at me on the ramp in Denver last week about a 45 minute delay

I was out doing the preflight walkaround on a 737 and this guy comes stomping across the tarmac past the cones. Starts screaming about how his connecting flight was going to leave without him. I told him sorry but we found a cracked hydraulic line during the turnaround and it had to get replaced before anyone goes anywhere. He said he didn't care about safety and just wanted to go. Security had to come get him. Has anyone else had passengers actually come out on the ramp like that?

Hold up, are you really saying calling security to remove someone who walked past cones onto the active ramp is a waste of time? That's not just yelling at a gate agent, that's trespassing into a restricted area where ground vehicles and jet blast are a real hazard. I teach middle schoolers so I deal with irrational yelling all day, but if a kid walked onto a bus ramp during dismissal I'd call for backup too. That passenger put himself and others at risk, not just made a scene.

Honestly people lose their minds at airports, I once had a guy threaten to call the cops on me for a weather delay.

Keep your head down and your phone recording next time. Common sense says a weather delay is out of anyone's hands, but people just need someone to yell at. Best move is to step away, find a gate agent or a quiet corner, and let them cool off. Had a guy scream at me over a missed connection once, told him the airline would sort it and walked off. They're looking for a reaction, so don't give them one. Save the police call for something that actually matters, like someone stealing your luggage.
