Old timer told me to trust the borescope over my ears, he was right
Had a PT6 with a rumble I was sure was the compressor, had it in the stand and everything. This retired guy, Phil, who's been turning wrenches since the 70s, told me to stop listening and run the borescope through the hot section first. Sure enough, found a cracked NGV blade at number 7, something you'd never hear from the cockpit. That little scope saved me from pulling the whole module and probably a $30k mistake. Is there any trick you guys use to trust the camera over your gut when the sound says different? I'm second guessing my ear now on everything.
