Rant: Bought a $300 inspection camera for a stubborn duct issue

Had a weird vibration in a regional jet's air conditioning duct. Couldn't see a thing. Boss said just sign it off, but I wanted to be sure. Spent my own cash on a cheap borescope from the tool truck. Found a broken clamp and a loose bracket right away. Anyone know a better brand that won't die after two uses?

Our shop swears by the Teslong borescopes for under a hundred bucks. I've had mine for three years and it still works fine. Those tool truck ones are just rebranded junk, right?

but diana_murphy, I gotta push back on calling all the tool truck ones junk. The one I got from the Snap-on guy years ago has been through hell, dropped in oil pans, yanked out by the cord, and it just works. The warranty is the real thing, they hand you a new one right there if it breaks. Yeah you pay more, but sometimes you're buying the service and the fact it won't die on you halfway through a tough job. Those cheap ones are fine until they aren't, and then you're just stuck waiting on another mail order.

Ever try the DEPSTECH ones? I grabbed one off Amazon for like eighty bucks and it's held up through some pretty grimy jobs.
