Serious question, was sure the torque stripe trick was hangar folklore until I checked a 737 flap track last month
Everyone says to mark bolts with a paint stripe so a loose one shows up at a glance, and for a while I figured that was just something old timers say. Then I found a stripe on a flap track bolt at the Tulsa hangar that was split clean in two, bolt was backing out, and the log showed it torqued fine 200 hours before. So which is it, real tool or crutch that makes us skip the wrench?
