Talking to a retired Delta guy at the diner changed how I see torque wrenches
I was at Lou's Diner in Dayton last week and got talking with a retired mechanic named Carl. He said, 'You know, a torque wrench isn't a tool, it's a promise to the next guy.' I mean, I always check my calibrations, but that hit different. It made me think about every bolt I've ever turned. Anyone else have a simple phrase that just stuck with them like that?

My old foreman always said, "Measure twice, cut once," and that stuck with me forever.

My grandpa always said measure three times...

Yeah, the "measure three times" rule is solid. I learned the hard way after rushing a cut and wasting a good piece of plywood. Taking that extra second saves so much time and material later.
