That engine oil analysis saved my butt before a big inspection

Last month I sent a sample from a Dash 8 we've been babysitting and the lab flagged copper way up at 85 ppm. My lead said it was fine but I dug into the logbook and found we chased a chip detector light 3 months back. Turned out the front sump bearing was walking, caught it before it ate the whole gearbox. Cost $75 for the test but saved us from a grounding and a 200k engine swap. Anyone else rely on spectro results even when the spreadsheet looks normal?

Wait, the lab caught that but your lead still said it was fine?
