Warning: a stripped panel screw on a Challenger 604 turned into a 9 hour job last Tuesday
The head rounded out on a lower belly panel screw and I figured it'd be a quick drill and easy out at Fort Worth. Four hours later I was still in there because the easy out snapped off flush and then I had to walk it out with a left hand bit and a pick. Then the hole was too chewed up to tap clean so I had to drill it oversize and drop in a rivnut, which meant pulling the panel next to it for clearance. Nine hours total on a screw that should've been a 15 minute fix, and I'm still kicking myself for not soaking it in penetrating oil the night before. Anybody got a better way to pull a snapped easy out without making the hole worse?
