Changed my mind about using the same drill bit for every concrete job

I kept burning out bits on old Chicago brick until a foreman told me to check the aggregate. He said a standard masonry bit is useless if there's a lot of flint. I switched to a carbide-tipped bit and it went through like butter. What's the hardest material you've had to drill into?

Trying to drill into my last apartment's walls felt like attacking a granite countertop.

Ever think all drywall was basically the same? My last place proved me wrong, it was like hitting concrete. Makes you wonder what they actually build these places out of.

Man, do I ever feel your pain. I once spent an hour trying to get through what I thought was just a normal foundation wall and it turned out to be full of river rock. It chewed up three bits before I gave up. That feeling when you finally find the right tool is just the best, isn't it? Makes all the frustration worth it.
