Finally stopped fishing wires blind through attics
Used to just poke and hope. Last month I bought a 25 foot glow rod and it saved me 45 minutes on a single job at an old colonial house. Anybody else switch to a fiberglass rod for running cable through insulation?

You really needed a special rod for that? Feels like overkill.

Man that 65lb tarpon I hooked last August would've smoked that setup in about 3 seconds flat without a proper rod. I bent my old medium-heavy ugly stik into a full circle trying to turn a 40lber a few years back, snapped it clean in two on the hookset. The parabolic action on those purpose-built tarpon rods is totally different - they flex way down into the butt section to absorb those high jumps and sudden runs, not just the tip. Plus the reel seats are reinforced for fighting fish for 30+ minutes instead of 5. It's not like you need it for bass or trout, but for big silver kings in the surf? Yeah, I see why he went with a specialty rod.
