Had a motion sensor go haywire in a finished basement last week

I was finishing up a job at a house in Westwood, and the new motion sensor in the rec room kept tripping with no one there. It was a dual-tech model, so I thought maybe the heat from the furnace was messing with it. I ended up having to re-route the wire away from the ductwork and tweak the sensitivity down to about 40%. Anyone have a better fix for false alarms in tight spaces like that?

Oh man, that reminds me of my buddy's place. He had a sensor in his garage that would freak out every time the sun hit it just right through a little window. Drove his dog nuts! We ended up putting a little piece of electrical tape over the part that sees the light, which sounds janky but it totally worked.

Ever wonder how many sensors are just out there getting taped over right now? I'm pretty sure my whole life runs on electrical tape fixes.

Honestly, that kind of janky fix is how half the stuff in my house stays running. We're all just taping over the little sensors in our lives to get by. It's a whole vibe.
