Heard a customer say their new system was 'too much' and it got me thinking

Was doing a walkthrough last week and the homeowner said they felt overwhelmed by all the motion sensors and door contacts I put in. Made me wonder if we sometimes over-engineer basic residential systems. Anyone else run into folks who just want a simple setup?

Honestly, that's such a good point. I had a customer last month who basically wanted just a few window sensors and a couple of cameras, but the sales guy was pushing this whole smart home setup with automated locks and voice control. The poor lady looked like she was about to cry. Ngl, sometimes we forget people just want to feel safe, not run a spaceship.

That poor lady sounds like my neighbor who returned a smart fridge because it kept yelling at her.
