Hit 500 installs last Friday and it felt weirdly like a bigger deal than I expected.
I just counted up my panel installs over 7 years and realized I hit 500 on a routine residential job in Akron, no fanfare or nothing, has anyone else had that moment where a random number made you stop and think about how many basements you've crawled through?

Funny how those milestone numbers sneak up on you. It's like when you look at a calendar and realize you've been doing something longer than you ever imagined you'd stick with it. Reminds me of how my dad used to count the miles on his truck not by trips, just by noticing the odometer hit a round number after years of driving. There's something weirdly grounding about seeing proof of all that time spent, even if nobody else claps for it.

Forgets the milestone itself, it's the quiet accumulation that matters most.

Wait, are you saying you didn't have a single person notice or mention it when you passed 500? Like no homeowner said "hey you're the guy who's done a ton of these" or a coworker pointed it out? That honestly makes it hit harder for me. I get what riley43 is saying about the odometer thing, but with installs there's something different. You're literally inside people's houses doing dirty work and they have no clue you've been at it that long. Makes you wonder if we're all just ghosts drifting through basements with tools. Did you at least buy yourself a beer or something to mark it?
