I called wireless sensors a gimmick for 12 years, then a 1920s house in Savannah humbled me
Back when everything was hardwired, I told customers wireless was for lazy installers and would just eat batteries. Last month I quoted a job on a historic home downtown where the owner refused any holes in the plaster, so I tried the new encrypted wireless contacts anyway. It took me 4 hours instead of the 3 days of fishing wire I had planned, and the signal held fine through those thick walls from the panel in the basement. The old-timer who trained me would probably shake his head, but I have already put wireless in two more quotes since. Has anyone else made the switch on older homes, or do you still fight the lath and plaster?
