I finally tried that old trick for fishing wire through a finished wall
Had a job in a 1950s house with plaster walls and no attic access above the room. I remembered a guy at a trade show years ago saying to use a shop vac and a plastic bag. Taped a small bag over the hole on the second floor, turned on the vac on the first, and the pull string shot up in about two seconds. It was way faster than my usual magnet method. Anyone have a different go-to for plaster and lath?

My cousin swears by a leaf blower.

Oh man, he's totally right. I got one a few years back and it changed everything. It's not just for leaves, I use it to clear the driveway and patio after mowing. Takes two minutes instead of sweeping for half an hour. Best money I ever spent on a yard tool.

Honestly it's wild how many things we do the hard way just because that's how we've always done them... like @kevin_west said, people swear by these tools once they try them. You see it with stuff like pressure washers or even just a good pair of work gloves. Makes you wonder what other chores we're all still doing the slow way because we haven't found the right tool yet.
