My 2-story house install taught me a lesson about ladder placement

I was up on a 28-foot extension ladder in East Dallas last month when I realized my zone wiring was 6 feet short because I didn't check my ladder spot before running the cable, has anyone else had to re-pull wires because of a ladder mistake?

anthony129, you missed the real lesson here. It's not about the extra six feet of cable, it's about the physics of the ladder itself. That 28-footer on a two-story house in Dallas, you gotta think about the angle and where your weight shifts when you're pulling cable tension. If your ladder foot is off by even a foot from the access point, you're fighting the lean to reach. That can make you slip or overextend, which is way worse than rewiring a zone. Did you ever check if your ladder base was level with the roof edge to keep your balance?

Oh man, I feel this one way too much. I once set up a 24-footer on a house where I was cocky about my ladder placement and ended up doing this weird spider-monkey stretch trying to reach a junction box. Let me tell you, my ego took a bigger hit than any cable ever could, and my shoulder still clicks when it rains. It's funny how a few inches on the ground can turn a simple job into a balancing act that makes you question all your life choices. So yeah, lesson learned the hard way, but at least I got a good story out of it and a new respect for measuring twice.

That "taught me a lesson" stuff seems like a lot of drama over a few extra feet of wire. Honestly, just grab a longer piece of cable and move on.
