Ran my phone line alarm zone through the same conduit as 120v for years, now I keep them 12 inches apart
For my first 3 years installing I always shared a conduit run with the AC line because it saved drilling a second hole in the header. After a customer in Plano kept getting false alarms every time her dryer kicked on, I traced it back to induced voltage on that phone zone. Now I drill separate holes and keep low voltage 12 inches from line voltage, no callbacks in 8 years. Anyone else learn this the hard way or am I just slow?
My dad's garage radio would pick up the spark from his table saw every single time he cut a board, and it took him a month to figure out the cord was running right next to the antenna wire. Same deal with my grandma's kitchen phone back in the 90s, you could hear the fridge click on through the handset. It's like how you can't put the router next to the microwave or the wifi drops, wires just grab whatever noise is nearby. You're not slow, the lesson just costs a callback to learn. Eight years clean says you got it figured out now.
