Shoutout to a retired installer named Bob in Phoenix
He told me to always run a pull string even for short conduit runs because you never know when the customer will want to add a sensor three years later and sure enough that exact thing happened on a job last week where I saved two hours of fishing.

Bob was right. That piece of advice pays for itself the first time you need it. Running a string takes maybe a minute. Fishing a new wire can take hours. It is the kind of simple habit that separates the pros from the people who learn the hard way. A little foresight beats a lot of cussing every time.

A buddy of mine spent three hours fishing a wire through a wall once. Turned out he'd been trying to pull it through a stud cavity that had a 2x4 blocking in the middle. The string was right there in his toolbox the whole time. We still bring that up at cookouts.
