Spent $200 on a cellular backup module and it saved my bacon

Had a job last month where the homeowner's landline got cut during a storm, and the old dialup panel was dead as a doornail. I threw in a Honeywell cell module after that, and when the next outage hit two weeks later, the system reported fine. Has anyone else had luck swapping out old phone-line panels for cellular?

My neighbor's garage opener went out last month and he spent three days trying to find a replacement circuit board before someone told him he could just use a smart switch and an app. It's funny how we cling to old tech because it's what we know, even when the new stuff works better and costs less. I've got a buddy who still uses a flip phone because he says smartphones are too complicated, but he can't figure out why his alarm system goes offline every time a squirrel chews through a wire. We all do it, we get stuck in our ways until something forces us to change. Then once we switch over, we wonder why we waited so long.

I had the same garage door issue last year. Spent a whole afternoon trying to fix the old circuit board before I gave up and got one of those smart switches for twenty bucks. Now I can open it from my phone, and honestly I don't know why I didn't do it sooner.
