Vent: Saved $150 by running my own wire on a job in Phoenix
Client wanted a wireless setup but the signal kept dropping through their stucco walls. I pulled out some old Cat6 I had in the van and ran it myself instead of paying for a pro cable guy. Anyone else get sick of fighting wireless issues and just go back to hardwiring?

Stucco walls are brutal, I had to drill through one last week and my hammer drill almost quit on me.

Yep stucco is basically a faraday cage for wifi. Hardwire is always better.

Oh man, I gotta push back on that a little. I mean, I live in a house with full stucco exterior and my wifi works totally fine. We're not gamers or anything but we stream 4k video, do video calls, all that stuff without issues. Maybe it's just me but I think people blame stucco way too much when their router placement or just the router itself is the real problem. Idk, I've seen folks with drywall and plaster have just as many dead zones. Hardwire is definitely better in theory, but for most people's actual daily use, a modern mesh system handles stucco just fine.
