Broke a chisel tip on a walnut board in my garage and had to resharp it by hand

I was shaping a dovetail joint in my garage last Saturday and pushed too hard on a knot in the walnut. The tip snapped off clean, so I spent 20 minutes on my whetstone fixing it. Anyone else have a tool fail on a specific wood type and had to improvise?

Yeah @lily70, walnut knots are brutal. Slowed way down and used a finer stone to save the edge.
