I was at the local library's repair cafe in Portland and a guy showed me how to fix my old cassette deck with a pencil

Honestly that's the best part about those repair cafes. It's never some fancy tool, it's always a trick with a paperclip or a bit of wax or something. Makes you realize how much stuff is fixable if you just know the little hack. Tbh it makes me want to take apart more of my old junk just to see how it works. That pencil trick probably saved a deck that would've been tossed out.

Ever try to fix something and just make it worse? I'm pretty sure I'd break the pencil trying that trick. Wesley_adams is right though, it's wild what you can do with simple stuff.

Yeah that part about it making you want to take apart your old junk is so real. I get that urge and then instantly regret it. Tbh I'm with uma_ellis on this, my talent is definitely for breaking things worse. Last time I tried a simple fix I turned a wobbly table into a pile of firewood. It's a special skill. Those repair cafe people are actual wizards.
